About Joyful Health
Our mission is to bring the joy back to running a private practice - we’re building an AI powered financial operating system that simplifies financial operations, so providers can do what they do best: focus on patient care.
The healthcare payment system is a complex and inefficient maze - healthcare practices leave $125 billion in revenue uncollected each year, lost in the chaos of fragmented financial data, manual workflows, and opaque payer systems. This financial uncertainty leaves practices struggling to stay afloat, while valuable revenue slips through the cracks.
At Joyful Health, we are building an AI-powered financial operating system to solve this problem. Our platform unifies financial data, detects revenue leakage, and automates payment operations so that healthcare providers can collect every dollar they’ve earned—without drowning in administrative tasks. We spent 10 months working as fractional CFOs for a dozen practices, doing this work side by side with providers as we developed our product.
We are well capitalized and just closed a seed round led by world-class investors and angels including the founders of MongoDB & KAYAK.

Role Description
As the Head of Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) at Joyful Health, you’ll lead, scale, and optimize our RCM operations, ensuring our revenue recovery services drive measurable financial outcomes for physician practices. This role is pivotal in building Joyful Health’s RCM function, combining strategic leadership with hands-on revenue recovery, team development, customer engagement, and go-to-market execution. You’ll be instrumental in driving operational excellence, developing strategic partnerships, and refining our product in alignment with client needs and market trends.
This role is full-time. We’re open to remote candidates but have a **preference for candidates based in NYC or on the east coast.
What you’ll do
- Revenue Recovery Leadership
- Hands-On Revenue Recovery: Lead efforts to maximize recovered revenue for our customers, handling complex RCM issues like denials, underpayments, and payer disputes. Oversee and continuously refine workflows to optimize revenue recovery rates, leveraging automation and operational efficiencies to increase throughput.
- Data-Driven Performance Analytics: Establish and monitor KPIs (alongside the operations team) to track team effectiveness, identify high-impact improvement areas, and pinpoint payer or process trends. Generate insights that inform strategic decisions and support customer ROI reporting, showcasing the financial impact of Joyful Health’s services.
- RCM Team Development & Operational Optimization: Build and lead a team of RCM specialists dedicated to revenue recovery and client support. Set clear expectations for productivity, train the team on best practices, and establish SOPs for consistency. Optimize workflows and ensure all team members are supported in delivering top-notch outcomes for clients.
- Strategic Product Collaboration
- RCM Workflow & Product Integration: Collaborate with product and engineering teams to ensure our platform aligns with RCM professionals’ needs. Provide insights from hands-on RCM work to help shape product features that streamline workflows and improve customer outcomes.
- Build vs. Buy Analysis & Vendor Relationships: Support in building and managing relationships with key vendors, including EMRs, billing systems, clearinghouses, and other partners critical for data integration. Evaluate integration pathways (API, HL7, direct database access, etc.) and recommend optimal approaches to set Joyful Health up for successful interactions with third-party data. Additionally, support the product & ops teams with build vs. buy assessments and assist in vendor evaluations for solutions such as patient eligibility, invoicing, and more to help ensure Joyful Health’s RCM function is robust and cost-effective.
- Sales, Partnerships & Go-to-Market (GTM) Execution
- Strategic Partnerships & Sales: Take an active role in sourcing, developing, and closing strategic partnerships with physician practices, Independent Practice Associations (IPAs), Managed Services Organizations (MSOs), PE-backed roll-ups, and other stakeholders. Support Joyful Health’s GTM efforts by leveraging industry relationships and representing our RCM expertise in the market.
- Customer Success Advisory & Onboarding: Advise on customer onboarding and training, focusing on a smooth implementation process that builds trust and ensures long-term satisfaction and retention. Act as an advocate for client success, working with customer support (once we hire them, haha) to address challenges and deepen client relationships.
- Market Engagement & Brand Representation
- Industry Presence: Represent Joyful Health at industry conferences, webinars, and community events. Engage with customers and industry peers to elevate Joyful Health’s brand and establish our presence in the RCM space.
- Bottom-Up Marketing Support: Participate in and lead community-led growth initiatives by hosting educational events, webinars, and sessions focused on RCM, helping customers and prospective clients navigate complex RCM challenges.
- Content and Educational Resource Development: Help position Joyful Health as a trusted authority in RCM by developing resources such as blog posts, customer training materials, whitepapers, and case studies (eventually all with support from ops and/or marketing, but to start we’ll do this all ourselves). These resources will support clients in understanding complex RCM topics, enhance their experience with our platform, and contribute to our thought leadership in the industry.
